What exactly is an Im-BEE-bO, anyway? Why are
we so unique?
The name, IMBIBO, (pronounced im-BEE-bO) is derived from Latin, meaning to
think-up, or to conceive new thoughts. It is from this name that our
customers will be empowered with the ability to develop their creativity of
our new processes, and the ability to release their imagination.
Imbibo has recently launched a new subsidiary, myTEGO, Inc. This
company was created to market and produce the TEGO brand of custom
covers for all portable electronic devices.
Imbibo, Inc. is a consumer products company that was created to leverage
significant opportunities in the mass consumer industry. Imbibo has
generated a business strategy by combining several previously unrelated
technologies and concepts, and applying them in a new and innovative manner
for the mass market.
Imbibo’s offerings allow the embodiment of consumer’s personal tastes and
perception of themselves into their products. Imbibo provides this through
the ability to create and design these personal products, on-demand (without
the use of extensive inventory), in a stimulating and entertaining
environment. Imbibo is more than just a consumer products company however;
the process of delivery and creating the Imbibo products is as much a part
of the end product itself.
Imbibo was created by the founders in the summer of 2002, after an
intensive, multi-year search and analysis of consumer trends and
technological developments, and the merging of such. The discovery of
various discontinuities from this analysis in the consumer marketplace led
the founders to conclude that a viable and profitable business could be
created from what was discovered and could be leveraged substantially in the
marketplace.
Imbibo believes that product development is an integral part of a successful
business; validation by the consumer in the early stages of product
introduction is crucial. Imbibo’s product development path is continuous and
is always subject to experimentation and validation by the consumer. It is
based upon a clear model, afterwhich market experimentation begins. Imbibo’s
first excursion into the consumer marketplace was through a retail test
kiosk where various products were introduced. Out of this the Tego was
developed, which is a customizable cover for practically any electronic
device, including cell phones and MP3 players. Imbibo has since applied for
patents with this new and unique product.
The name Imbibo is itself a whimsical and fun play on the Latin word Imbibo,
which in fact means to think up and to conceive new thoughts. This name
and connotation is an integral mentality of the company. Importantly as
well, ‘Imbibo’ is a memorable word that can easily be used and repeated by
its customers. The logo and the alliteration of ‘Imbibo’ reinforce the fun
nature of the company and its products. Most importantly, it’s fun to say!
